Atheism is on the Rise and this is Why!

Atheism is on the rise in America and it may be a symptom of something deeper that's going on across the nation. In particular, the United States is experiencing an epidemic of fatherless families.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 18.3 million children, 1 in 4, live without a biological, step, or adoptive father in the home. Consequently, there is a father factor in nearly all social problems facing America today.

Another result of the rise of fatherless families, I argue in the video, is the decline of Christianity. Researchers at Barna have found that Christianity is on a steady decline. Meanwhile, Americans’ identification with atheism continues to increase. Barna states that atheism has nearly doubled in the US from 2003 to 2018.

In Dr. Paul Vitz's Faith of the Fatherless: The Psychology of Atheism, he demonstrates that many atheists may lack a belief in God due to growing up with a disappointment in their earthly father, either due to death, absence or abuse. This video covers some of Dr. Vitz's research as well as my experience of growing up without a father and how that affected my belief in God.
