Allison M. Smith has had an extensive career in advocacy for children and families. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Human Development and Social Policy from the University of Utah, where she taught for many years. In addition to her teaching, she developed a Life Coaching practice and assisted children and families with various challenges. She then became the Statewide Coordinator for the Office of Drug Endangered Children for the Nevada Attorney General. Through the course of her work in Nevada, Allison saw many drug endangered children who also became victims of human trafficking.

She then spent four years as the Education and Outreach Specialist for a Trafficking in Person’s Program in Utah where she conducted trainings statewide and nationally to educate organizations, agencies, and communities regarding human trafficking and best practices in supporting survivors of human trafficking. She is now the U.S. Aftercare Specialist for Operation Underground Railroad and works to ensure that survivors of human trafficking are supported as they find their way forward by working with vetted Aftercare partners throughout the United States. She also partners and provides training and technical assistance regarding best practices in supporting survivors of human trafficking of local, statewide and national organizations. Allison is also a member of the Utah Opioid Task Force and a Board Member of the National Alliance for Drug Endangered Children.
