4th Day of Russia Ukraine War. Latest at the end of 27 February.

After an operational pause, Russian forces stepped up their offensive. Russian high command ordered their troops to expand in all directions. According to Western media, Russia met more resistance than expected.

● Russian troops entered 2nd largest Ukrainian city, Kharkiv (population over 1.4 million). Heavy fighting in built up areas continues, besides back-and-forth rocket firing.

● A gas pipeline was blown up in Kharkiv.

● An oil depot erupted in flames amid explosions in Kyiv. Cross fire reported closer to Kyiv city centre. Long curfew kept people off the streets. Terrified civilians remained in garages and underground stations.

● In fresh attacks, Russian forces hit fuel supplies and airfields, besides squeezing ports in the country's south.

● Many homes, bridges and roads have been destroyed by shelling that cut off communites from markets. As per UN sources, around 160,000 Ukrainians have been internally displaced.

● According to Russian sources, Ukraine shelled Donetsk residential areas including a kindergarten.

● Ukrainian authorities distributed 10,000 guns amongst volunteers in Kyiv. Civilians are assisting armed forces in defence of the city.
