Is America a Democracy or a Republic? What are the differences between a Democracy and a Republic? Here are what some of the Founders said:

We are now forming a republican government. Real liberty is neither found in despotism or the extremes of democracy, but in moderate governments —

Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%.

Democracy… while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.
