Driver Fails to Yield, 2 Hospitalized, GOODRICH, February 28, 2022 - At approximately 9:37 am on February 28, 2022, a black 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, driven by Warren Schulte, 75, of Livingston, was south-bound on US-59 in Goodrich. As Schulte was passing the north-end of Loop-393, a white 1998 Ford F-150, driven by Juan Alanis, 79, of Goodrih, pulled off of 393 directly in front of Schulte. The pickups collided. The impact spun Alanis' pickup around facing west while Schulte left the pavement to the left and came to rest in the center median. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with a Deputy with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Both Alanis and his female passenger were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Schulte was physically okay. Alanis was cited for failure to yield. Traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. The vehicles were recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service out of Goodrich, and Dan's Towing out of Livingston.
