Large Praying Mantis

This Praying Mantis was one of the biggest we’ve seen. The Praying Mantis is a mantid and they are formidable, near perfect predators. They are very beneficial, but are indiscriminate in what creatures they eat.

They eat moths, flies, crickets and mosquitoes! Unfortunately, they also eat each other sometimes. Larger tropical species may consume small mammals, lizards and hummingbirds.
