The Science behind Their Transformation
The ability of Angelfish to modify colors depends on melanosomes and melanin development. Melanosomes are responsible for melanin synthesis, and a material that absorbs light is melanin.

The angelfish’s ultimate colors are dominated by melanosomes, which monitor melanin’s motions and storage.

It means that the melanosomes have been distributed over to the melanophores as this particular stripe fades.

The thinner the bars get when it extends, it will quickly vanish.

The Cause of Color Change

Their Environment
The stripes seen in the angelfish have a reason not just for vanity. If there is an enemy close by, it allows them to camouflage.
