As the name suggests, a quick-release plate fixes to the bottom of your camera and allows you to fit it on the tripod quickly and easily.

In the box was the baseplate and camera mount, 1/4 to 3/8 Screw Adapter, and an Allen key to release the screw adapter. No instructions or paperwork was included.

This quick release plate is tough and well made, constructed from aluminium alloy with rubber pads and rubber finger grips. It has no less than 3 spirit levels, which are clear and easy to read, and an oversized knurled release knob. Take note that the knob has to be rotated to release the catch and so can take longer to let go than plates with a simple thumb handle. Also, the knob projects below the level of the base plate making it hard to fix to wide mounts. The screw adapter can be removed from the base plate and the two halves of the adapter separated but the screw adapter I received was firmly stuck together and no amount of effort could free it up.

Once fitted the device works well and has a smooth action and quality feel to it when in use with the feel of a serious piece of photographic equipment. This is an excellent device, that is simple to install and works well and gets the job done. Priced at just £12.99 before discounts this is pretty much the standard price for the many rivals I have seen but is still a pretty decent buy.
