Komodo or Varanus komodoensis is an endemic animal that can be found in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Komodo is one of the rare protected animals. The population of this one large reptile is indeed not much. Komodo is the largest species of the family Varanidae, as well as the largest lizard in the world, with an average length of 2-3 meters and weighing up to 100 kg. Komodo dragons are top predators in their habitat because so far there are no known large carnivores other than this monitor lizard in any geographic area. Their large bodies and terrible reputation make them one of the most famous animals in the world. Adult wild Komodo dragons usually weigh around 70 kg, but Komodo dragons kept in captivity are often heavier. The largest wild specimen ever found was 3.13 meters long and weighed about 166 kg, including the weight of undigested food in its stomach.
