🎼 About Bell Marques
Washington Marques da Silva, affectionately known as Bell Marques, was born in Salvador on September 5, 1952 and began his musical career as a teenager, helping his brother, Wilson, as a sound technician in the Salvador region. As soon as Bell saved money and bought his first musical instrument, he started playing with his friend Rey and his brother Wadinho Marques, with whom he formed the band Scorpius in the late 1970s.

In 1980, embracing Bell's idea of ​​playing in an electric trio, they were hired by Bloco Traz os Montes to play at that year's carnival. In the following year, sound engineer Wilson Marques suggested and put into practice a revolutionary idea of ​​closing the entire side of the trio with speakers and using transistorized power equipment, passing all the musicians to play in the upper part of the trio, thus causing , at the time, a big difference from the others.

Leading the band, in 1982 it finally changed its name, for commercial reasons, earning the title of Gum with Banana, having Bell as its leader and vocalist. In 2014, Bell left Chiclete com Banana to pursue a solo career, debuting at Carnival in Salvador in his new block Vumbora and continues to lead the traditional Bloco Camaleão.
