Many people falsely believe that conservatives are wealthier and more selfish than liberals when the opposite is true. Studies have shown that conservatives on average give more money and volunteer more time to charity than liberals, even though they’re less wealthy on average. This is because conservatives believe that charitable giving is both morally good and important to society, and more important than government welfare, which studies have shown can create dependency.
