Hwamei (Garrulax canorus) is a songbird native to East Asia in the family Callitrichidae. The bird's name comes from the Chinese Hwa Mei which means "eyebrow-paint" referring to the characteristic markings around the eyes. The hwamei bird is popular as a hobby bird because it has an interesting voice.
