MRE sides are "ready to eat" and easy to prepare — no cooking is required. They are completely precooked, self-contained foods (military meals) that require NO REFRIGERATION and can be eaten cold, right out of the pouch (although for this side, we think it tastes better heated, typically with the Flameless Ration Heater available for purchase separately). Please see our link to other optional MRE Heating Methods in the Additional Information section below.
MRE’s are a great option for camping, hunting, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor recreation activities, as well as for RV and off-road adventures, or anytime you just don't want to cook.
MREs are also an extremely popular emergency preparedness food. They are very convenient, easy to pack and store, and provide an excellent source of nutrition and energy whenever you might need it.
Ready to eat MRE sides typically have a 5 to 7 year shelf life when stored at 80° F — longer if stored in cool conditions.
