100 Years of Glycine - Avant-Garde since 1914
In 1914, the company Glycine Montres S.A., created by Eugène Meylan, initially specialised in small-calibre watch movements for ladies' watches.

In the 1920s and '30s, Glycine continued its success story under Eugène Meylan with small-calibre round movements which were later joined by rectangular and oval movements. The exceptionally gifted Meylan, who was one of the leading lights of the Swiss watchmaking industry at the time, not only produced stylish ladies' watches with these movements but also diamond-encrusted jewelry watches in gold and platinum cases.

The production of small-calibre watch movements was generally quite expensive in those days and the accuracy of many watch brands left much to be desired. However, Meylan achieved very impressive results thanks to uncompromising precision and was awarded numerous prizes. As a consequence, his movements were not just confined to use in Glycine watches but were also to be found in many other renowned watch brands.

Eugen Meylan had a very good intuitive feel for the needs of the market and for technical advances. So it was hardly surprising that he was one of the very first watchmakers to be successful in launching an automatic watch movement, developed entirely by himself, in 1931.

In honour of its centenary, the traditional watchmaker Glycine is producing a beautiful vintage set: a combination of a F104 wrist watch with an automatic movement and an F104 hand-wound pocket watch. If you are interested in purchasing this anniversary set, you need to be quick about, as the set comes in a limited edition of 250 pieces.

The Glycine F 104 has a flat sapphire crystal as well as a special leather strap in a "pilot look" with two rivets on either side. The glass back, fixed by six screws, allows you to view the fascinating Swiss automatic movement. The polished stainless steel case, which has a rounded shape, looks good on any wrist thanks to the movable lugs. The elegant conical crown - carried over from the original model - adds a touch of nostalgia to this watch, which is waterproof to 3 atm.
