Okemah Community descendants work to preserve history

The story of the Okemah Community is one in which those who grew up outside of its boundaries likely don't know. And people who used to live there have made it their mission to make sure that changes. Established in the 1920s Okemah was a thriving rural community founded by Black migrants from Oklahoma and Texas who were recruited to work farm land south of the Salt River.
