2GIG GC3: Enter & Exit Programming Mode

If your system is professionally installed, you can operate the day-to-day functions without much concern for the setup of the system. But do-it-yourselfers typically prefer to understand all the details of their alarm system. Our video shows you how to access all the features of your 2GIG GC3 system by using Programming Mode.

Programming Mode is where you’ll find the brains for your alarm system. Entering programming mode lets you access features, adjust settings and program sensors. It’s also where you can add users, set up a Duress Code and more.

There are two ways to enter Programming Mode. You can either use the system’s Master Code or the Installer Code. The differences can be a little confusing, so the video provides additional detail.

Both codes let you adjust a variety of settings. However, only the Installer Code gives you access to the Installation Toolbox. The Installation Toolbox lets you access a variety of features including System Configuration settings, the ability to Restore Defaults and more.

The Master Code is designed for the end user. The Master Code lets you arm and disarm the system. You can also use the Master Code to add users, adjust entry/exit times and perform many other functions. The Master Code gives you access to most of the system features but only the Installer Code unlocks all functionality.

In some situations, the installer code will only be used during alarm installation. The end user will only be given the Master Code. This is rarely a situation which applies to homeowners, although there might be a professional situation where this setup is necessary.

As explained in the video, the system will have a default Master Code and a default Installer Code. The default Master Code is 1111. The default Installer Code is 1561. We recommend changing both of those codes as soon as possible, but you will need to use them during initial setup.

The video shows a variety of ways to enter Programming Mode. You can use either the System Setting button in the lower right or the 2GIG button in the upper right. Most do-it-yourselfers prefer using the 2GIG button and inputting the Installer Code. This gives you access to all programming features.

We detail quite a few scenarios involving when and why the Installer Code is needed. If you use the Master Code to enter the System Settings, you’ll need to enter the Installer Code to access the Installation Toolkit. If you enter System Settings by originally using the Installer Code, you’ll be able to access the Toolkit without any additional steps.
