Peacock Spider

Jurgen Otto, a mite biologist and spider enthusiast brought the peacock spider to fame after filming them and uploading the videos to his youtube channel and photos to his Flickr account
The peacock spider was originally discovered in 1874 but remarkably hasn’t had professional footage taken of it until now.
48 species of peacock spiders confirmed, 7 of them being new species recently discovered
The spider performs a “dance” by shaking their colorful abdomen and vibrating their limbs
This is all in effort to attract a female mate during the months from September to November, which is mating season.
Males come in a wide variety of colors where females are a grey/brown color with no colorful abdomen.
The peacock spider measures only 4 to 5 mm in length, to put that into perspective that smaller then the lead on the end of a pencil.
Which species of peacock spider is your favorite?
