Abandoned Roller Coaster at a POW Camp

-The Dragon Centre, a mall built in 1994, is located in the district of Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong.
-At first glance it’s quite shocking to see this mall located in the middle of a very old area of Hong Kong
-It has 9 floors, 7 of those for shopping, the 8th floor is a food court and functional ice skating rink and the 9th floor contains a small arcade and the abandoned roller coaster
-The Dragon Coaster has been closed now for over 10 years.
-There is recent video of people saying they’ve seen people testing the track, which would lead you to believe possibly for reopening the coaster, but when the Dragon Centre was called about this they said “no the coaster is closed and will never open again”.
-Although quite dangerous looking the Dragon Coaster only had 1 incident in 1996 when the power went out leaving 18 passengers stranded on the coaster
-Safety nets were added when the coaster was still in operation but they are not rated to catch humans just small items like sunglasses and wallets
-This was actually tested when I man was having an argument with his wife on the 8th floor and out of rage threw his young daughter over the railing, the net caught her but when the man jumped over the railing himself he went right through the net and right to the bottom. Luckily the daughter was able to crawl across the net to safety.
-If you thought the history of the mall was already bizarre, the Dragon Centre was actually built overtop a former POW camp, used by the Japanese during WWII
-The POW camp was apart of a larger facility called Sham Shui Po Barracks
-Not too far outside the mall, 2 of the only maple trees in hong kong can be found as they were planted to commemorate all the Canadian soldiers that died in the POW camp.
