Alfa's latest-but-not-truly-first SUV made its debut at the LA Auto Show in Quadrifoglio guise, but until now we haven't seen the slightly less potent base model. No, it doesn't quite have "steelie" wheels, but that base model, dubbed First Edition, is just now starting deliveries in Europe and offers our first look at the version most people will probably end up buying.

The First Edition is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque, and it sends those horses and torque to all four wheels, no matter the trim. Even this base model is good for sprints from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.7 seconds.

Inside, the First Edition offers an 8.8-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and Alfa's 3-D navigation system. Buyers will also find leather seats, chrome and wood surfaces, and safety systems in the form of autonomous emergency braking, a forward-collision warning system and lane-departure warning. (Keep in mind, these specs refer to the European version of the First Edition, though the equipment listed is not expected to differ much from eventual U.S. offerings). The First Edition base model wears 20-inch wheels, and they may be what the U.S. market model will wear, as well.
