5 Things You Didn’t Know About the BROWN Panda

5. This Brown Panda, Qizai, is the one and only on planet earth. Now you may have hoped that the brown panda is a new type of panda found but sadly it is not. Scientists believe Qizai’s unique brown fur color comes from a genetic mutation but no one really knows and may remain a mystery.

4. Tough Beginnings
Qizai had a rough start to life, his mother abandoned him when he was only 2 years old. He was alone, neglected and weak but luckily was found in nature reserve in China. He brought to the panda nature park where he lives now.

3. Bullied
Qizai was bullied growing up. His panda friends often stole his food and exerted dominance over him. It didn’t help that he is simply just a slower panda then the average panda but he endured it all and today he has no problem with other pandas stealing his food.

2. Fur Variation
Pandas from different regions of china have a different shades. Some have much darker black parts of their fur where the more northern ones tend to have lighter fur. Some pandas will have dark brown fur on the stomach only but an all brown panda like Qizai is a one of a kind. You might wonder about his mother’s coloring, she had the typical black and white coloring.

1. Internet Star
Qizai or “The Seventh Son” has had worldwide attention. He eats 44 lbs or 20 kg of bamboo a day as well enjoys carrots and corn flour, mmmm nothing like eating corn flour. He is 7 years old now and weighs 220 lbs or 100 kg which is within the health weight of a panda this age.
