Homemade Human Powered Amusement Park

Back in the 1970s, Bruno opened a restaurant an hour north of Venice, Italy. He learned to weld to be able to make some playground equipment for the children that visited his restaurant. 40 years later Bruno has amassed a full themepark of human powered rides called Osteria Ai Pioppi.

Bruno’s story isn’t as simple as this though, he initially wanted some playground equipment and went to a welder and asked for a few pieces to be welded, the welder said he didn’t have time for things like that but pointed and said the welding machine is right here go ahead. This started an obsession for Bruno that has resulted in 40 - 50 rides and attractions at his amusement park.

Bruno is inspired by the movement of nature, the way trees sway, how the leaves blow for the creation of his rides. To just name a few there is handful of roller coaster ride like this car coaster, chair coaster and mat coaster. There’s also what looks like a 3 or 4 story slide, rope swings, 360 rope spinner, a spinning gyro seat, zip line, a 360 bike wheel and 360 cage wheel.

Nothing in Bruno’s theme park runs on electricity or has motors except his creation Pendolo which is a pendulum drop style rollercoaster. This thing isn’t a kids roller coaster, this is a real drop coaster. Passengers are loaded into the coaster then a winch pulls the car to the top, once released gravity does the rest.
