Sapodilla or Chikoo as it’s known on the Indian sub continent, is a fruit that is commercially grown for making chewing gum. This Central American fruit is brown on the outside and orange. The flesh looks like a cantelope on the inside but don’t be fooled it tastes nothing like one. The sapodilla tastes sweet but with almost a savory note to it.

The flavor is strong and not particularly good which is why it is recommended to eat it blended with lemon and apple.
