10. Rutabaga
70 year old Ian Neale grew this massive 119 lbs or 54 kg rutabaga. Now before we go on here this is actually a swede which is a swedish rutabaga or swedish turnip but they are all in the same family or under the same name of vegetable. He's been growing vegetables since his teens but has retired from the largest vegetable competitors in 2008. He's been giving away his seeds and secrets to start a new generation of growers in the world. Now in a shocking twist in this story is the fact that Snoop Dogg heard about his record breaking swede and posted a video inviting Ian to come to his show and wanted to pick his brain about growing huge vegetables.

9.Sweet Potato
Lebanese farmer Khalil Semhat grew this massive 24.9 lb or 11.3kg sweet potato.
He had been working the land since he was a boy but had never seen anything like it. To put this into perspective the average sweet potato weighs around ⅓ of a lb or 150g making this sweet potato the equivalent of over 75 sweet potatoes.

8.Banana
This giant banana is over 2 feet long. Now technically this is a plantain, a rhino horn plantain. Unlike some types of plantains this one tastes good raw or cooked.

7. Onion
Grown by Peter Glazebrook in the UK in 2011, si it 17 lb or 7.7 kg. Peter has grown the longest beetroot, longest parsnip, heaviest potato and this one the heaviest onion.

6.Lemons
Grown by Aharon Shemoel in Israel is the world’s largest lemon. This monster weighed in at 11 lbs or 5.2 kg. This lemon was confirmed by guinness world records on January 8, 2003 as the largest lemon every grown. The lemon was grown in the village of Kfar Zeit in Israel but typically huge lemons are grown in spain in the town of Rute.

5.Cabbage
The biggest cabbage ever grown from the earth is this big guy weighing in at 138 lbs or 62 kg. Scott Robb grew this cabbage in Alaska which was presented at the Alaska State Fair in 2012. This cabbage broke the record at the time by 11 lbs.

4.Carrot
This 20 lb or 9kg carrot grown by Peter Glazebrook looks disgusting to say the least. It was verified at the Harrogate Flower Show in 2014 and won the prize for heaviest carrot. Peter cultivates these huge carrots by growing them in a large water barrels that are half buried under the ground. Once it’s getting ready to harvest for a world record showing the carrots actually need a support structure that is attached to the barrels just to support the tops.

3.Watermelon
The mammoth watermelon grown by Christopher Kent is the heaviest one ever grown. He grew this 350 lb or 159 kg watermelon in Tennessee in 2013 and was verified by the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. Now why don’t watermelon’s have their own commonwealth? This watermelon had over 40,000 calories of sweet delight, enough to feed 20 people for a day. Chris’s watermelon was 42.5 lbs or 19 kg heavier than the previous record.

2.Jackfruit
The heaviest jackfruit ever grown is this beast which weighs in at 76 lbs or 34.6 kg. Now if you haven’t had jackfruit just think juicy fruit gum, that’s where they got the flavor for the gum from. This jackfruit measures almost 2 feet or ¾ of a meter long with a circumference of 4 feet or about 1 ¼ meters. George and Margaret grew this jackfruit in 2003 on this land in Hawaii and I’m guessing they enjoyed it along with their 20 closest friends. Jackfruit has been growing in hawaii since the 1880s and it seems What’s extra special about giant jackfruits is the fact a mature tree is needed first before a huge fruit can grow. It can takes a minimum of 4 years for a jackfruit tree to produce fruit but can take a decade for them to produce massive fruit like this one.

1.Pumpkin
Mathias Willemijns of Belgium has cultivated a 2623.5 lb or 1190 kg pumpkin which has shattered the previous records before it. The pumpkin was weighed at the Giant Pumpkin European Championship in Ludwigsburg, Germany. If you were wondering a 2635 lb pumpkin equates to 238k calories which would feed 119 people for a full day. The previous pumpkin record was by Germany grower Beni Meier with his 2014 pumpkin weighing 2323 lb or 1053 kg.
