In this video, Dylan teaches users how to clear the 950 Com Error on the Honeywell Lyric Controller. A 950 Com Error means that the Honeywell Lyric Controller Alarm System is failing to communicate with the Honeywell AlarmNet Servers that pass signals onto a central station and/or Total Connect 2.0.

When the Lyric Controller is experiencing a 950 Com Error, a trouble condition will appear at the top of the screen. Pressing the green Home key on the front of the panel (the picture of the house) will take the user to a screen where they can acknowledge the displayed 950 Comm. Trouble. by entering in the system's Master Code. This trouble condition will often be displayed upon first activating the Honeywell Lyric Controller. If the user has not changed the Master Code for the system, they can use the default Master Code of 1234 to acknowledge this message. However, this will not clear the trouble condition.

To clear the error, the system can be set up for monitoring. This will get the system connected with AlarmNet and Total Connect, and therefore clear the error. It is also possible to disable communication for the system to clear the error. This will prevent the system from receiving monitoring services, so this will really only work if the user intends on using the system as a local sounder without any monitoring service. If the user intends on receiving monitoring service later on, they will have to re-enable the communicator.

Disabling the communicator is done through system programming. A user will need to know the Installer Code for the system to access this menu. Within the communicator option of programming, the user should set the Communication Path setting to "None" and then save the selection. Once the system makes the change, the communicator for the system will be disabled. The 950 Com Error should then no longer be displayed.
