Compatible AUI Devices for a Honeywell VISTA Alarm System

The primary compatible AUI devices for a Honeywell VISTA are the Honeywell Tuxedo Touch Keypad and the Honeywell 6280 Keypad.

When discussing AUI devices, it is helpful to know what AUI means. AUI stands for "Advanced User Interface". It refers to a tool that be controlled by the end user through a technologically advanced platform, such as that of a touchscreen controller. Any touchscreen keypad that is used with a hardwired VISTA System is an example of an AUI device. The touchscreen keypads that function with VISTA Panels include the 6280 Keypad and the Tuxedo Touch.

The 6280 Keypad is just a simple touchscreen controller for Honeywell VISTA Systems. It serves as an access point for the VISTA System for arming and disarming. It can also be used for panel programming. However, the 6280 does not provide a user with a way to backdoor into programming if they ever become locked out. As a result, it should ideally only be used as a secondary keypad for the system.

The Tuxedo Touch is almost the exact same device as the 6280 Keypad. The only real difference is that the Tuxedo Touch provides Z-Wave smart home functionality for the system. A user can control their Z-Wave devices right from the Tuxedo Touch Keypad or remotely using the Total Connect 2.0 platform. It is also possible to create rules and scenes for TC2 devices so that they activate automatically with certain system events or based on a set schedule.

Please note that a Honeywell VISTA System can only support a maximum of four AUI devices, assuming that the system has the latest PROM chip. Users should also be aware that the Honeywell VAM and the Total Connect 2.0 service both count towards this four AUI device limit. Both the VAM and TC2 count as AUI devices.
