In this video, Jorge talks about how many protection zones are available on the Honeywell Lyric Controller. In total, there are 128 burglary zones on the panel. In order to add a new zone, a user will need to access programming using the Installer Code. There are also 32 zones reserved for key fobs.

A wireless zone on an alarm system is designed to provide support for a sensor or other piece of equipment. This could include a door or window contact, a motion sensor, a glass break sensor, a smoke detector or really any type of sensor. Each device will use at least one zone on the system. And if a device performs multiple system functions, then it will likely require multiple zones on the system.

On the Lyric Controller, the zones are organized by type. Zones 1 and 2 are hardwired zones that are reserved for the panel's hardwired terminals. Zones 3 thru 126 are for standard wireless sensors. Most sensors will be programmed in one of these zones. Next, zones 127 thru 130 are for garage doors. Sensors programmed in one of these zones will be recognized within the garage door menu.

Next, zones 131 thru 162 are for key fobs. Each key fob input requires its own zone. So if a key fob has four inputs that are used, the device will need four different zones. It is also possible to use a burglary zone for a key fob. Other zone types that are available include Total Connect zones and keypad zones. The Total Connect zones serve as "temp zones" for receiving notifications from Total Connect. The keypad zones are designed for use with external keypad devices, such as the Honeywell LKP500. At the very end, there are zones set up for the system panic buttons.
