In this video, Dylan explains to users how many keypads they can add to a Honeywell VISTA-20P. The VISTA-20P will support up to eight addressable keypads and four touch-screen advanced user interface keypads. The AUI keypads must be addressed to device addresses 1, 2, 5 and 6 on the security system.

A keypad is arguably the most important add-on for a VISTA-20P Alarm System. Without a keypad, a user will have no way of locally controlling the system or performing any programming functions. Even if a user does all of their regular system operation through Total Connect 2.0, they will still want a keypad for local control and in case the TC2 service is ever down or unavailable.

When obtaining a first keypad for a VISTA-20P, the user should make sure to obtain an alphanumeric keypad. An alphanumeric keypad will properly display the menus as the user is navigating through the programming menus. If a user tries to do this with a fixed English keypad, they will be operating blindly, and they could mess up the system settings. Fixed English keypads are still great for regular arming and disarming though.

In addition to addressable keypads, a VISTA-20P will also support AUI keypads, which typically refers to touch-screen keypads. These devices offer full-color menus, and they can be more inviting and easier to use than traditional push-button keypads. But keep in mind that a VISTA-20P can only support up to four AUI devices. Remember, the Total Connect 2.0 service itself counts as an AUI device.

After a user has added an alphanumeric keypad to their VISTA-20P for programming, they may want to add additional keypads for additional on-site access points for arming and disarming. For example, user could have their primary keypad by their front door and a secondary keypad by their back door for easy access.
