Garden Full Season Harvest
With my garden series coming to an end this season it’s time to show you my fall harvest. I will still have a couple of videos coming like one showing how my plastic bin potatoes did. Other plants like my amaranth is currently drying and haven’t finished its cycle.
Starting off earlier in the season was my honey berries, if you want to learn more about that be sure to subscribe to my other channel where they’ll get a full spotlight. Strawberries did well for me this year but broccoli, kale and chard all became infested with aphids. These are the few pieces I was able to harvest and eat.
My bean patch was a last minute addition and a huge win. You can see my fava beans here picked fresh than cooked. My apple tree produced around 15 apples which is quite impressive for its first year in the ground.
Sadly most of my corn looked like this, great for an instagram photo but not much to eat. The reason for this is the clay soil which prevented the corn from getting a strong grip on the ground. I grew multiple different types of tomatoes and quite frankly had too many. My first time growing squash and gourds, the kabocha squash production wasn’t bad although most didn’t reach full size, the crookneck squash did though. I pulled 3 honey dew and a cantaloupe out of the garden as well has a handful of inedible tiny hami melons.
Here is a full picture of my fall harvest, a few that have gone unmentioned are the red kuri squash, eggplant, scallopini, cabbage and kohlrabi.
Black nightshade berries randomly starting growing out of my soil in both the front and back yard. After identifying them properly I’ve been enjoying both the berry and the leaves. I cover these more in top 10 vegetables you’ve never heard of part 2.
Within that video I cover the lemon drop pepper I grew. These are spicy and delicious. You can also learn about the cucamelon in that episode which has become a new snack favorite of mine. An allstar of the garden is the lemon cucumber, a mix of a cucumber with a nice lemon flavour, I’d eat this everyday if I could.
Aside from the lemon drop pepper I grew multiple other types of hot peppers like hungarian hot wax pepper.
I’m still pulling food from my garden even in mid october, where is a little sneak peak of a rare one I grew that you can learn more about in top 10 fruits part 10 on my other channel.
I have major plans for next season in regards to my garden you’ll have to wait for that. Be sure to subscribe and have a great day.
