Wiring a TG-1 Express to a Wired Security System.

This will allow for more reliable and faster communication than if the alarm system used a standard phone dialer.

Many people have older hardwired alarm systems that use POTS (plain old telephone service) connectivity for communication with a central monitoring station. The problem with this is that POTS connectivity is known for being very slow and unreliable. This will slow down emergency response times, and some signals may even fail to reach the central station entirely. But having to replace the system entirely can present a major inconvenience. In these situations, upgrading the communicator for the alarm system is often a viable option.

The best option when upgrading the communicator for an alarm system is usually to use a module that is specifically designed for that particular panel model. However, the Telguard TG-1 Express is unique because it works with many types of security panels. It can be used with most control panels that utilize a telephone dialer for communication. One important thing to remember when using the TG-1 Express is that it will not allow the panel to connect with Total Connect or Alarm.com.

The way that the TG-1 works is that it essentially takes over the panel's phone dialer. The panel will think that it is dialing out during an alarm, but really it is communicating across a cellular network. Any signals that are sent out will be received by servers that are hosted by Telguard. Once these signals are received, Telguard will then forward any relevant alarm events to a central monitoring station. This will allow the end user to receive emergency dispatch.
