In this video, Jorge explains the internal siren that is used with the Interlogix Simon XTi and Simon XTi-5 Alarm Systems. The internal siren will activate whenever a burglary or fire alarm occurs on the system to let everyone inside the building know about the situation and to evacuate immediately.

The internal siren for the Simon XTi and Simon XTi-5 Systems is rated at 85 dB. This is a good volume for homes and small businesses to let everyone on the premises know that an alarm has occurred. However, businesses might want to add an external siren that will pack an extra punch. Certain external sirens can reach volumes of up to 120 dB. But for most users, the internalized siren will work just fine.

There is a menu on these systems for adjusting the siren settings. This menu is called the Siren Options Menu. The user will need to enter programming and provide their Installer Code (default is 4321) to access the menu. From this menu, various sound options can be configured as needed. These options include basic system tones, voice functions and more. The siren is identified by "Panel Piezo Alarm". It can be toggled on or off. If the Panel Piezo Alarm is enabled, then the system will produce a sound in the event of an alarm. But if they don't want to have alarms occur, then they can turn this option off.

This menu is also where a user can adjust the settings and configurations for external sirens. This includes any siren supervision options that will cause the system to display an alert if someone cuts the line to the siren. If you ever want to test a siren, you should make sure to put your system on test mode with the central monitoring station before triggering any alarms.
