Alarm.com and the Interlogix Simon XTi & XTi-5

Alarm.com offers some great features and functions for the Interlogix Simon XTi & Simon XTi-5 Panels. A cellular communicator is needed to use ADC.

Using Alarm.com can really make a user's life more convenient. The service can be accessed at any time through a web browser or through the Alarm.com Mobile App. This app is available for free download from both the Google Play Store on Android devices and the Apple App Store on iOS devices. Users particularly enjoy the ADC Mobile App, as it allows them to control their system from essentially anywhere in the world. Through the Alarm.com Mobile App, a user can perform various actions for their system. These actions include arming and disarming, checking the current status of sensors, controlling Z-Wave smart home devices, viewing the live feed of Alarm.com Security Cameras and more.

However, a Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 Alarm System cannot access Alarm.com unless a system upgrade is added. The upgrade that is needed is a cellular communicator. This module will allow these systems to communicate across a cellular network. This is important because the Alarm.com service can only be accessed through cellular. Additionally, cellular communication is considerably faster and more reliable than the standard POTS (plain old telephone service) connection used with these systems. There's also the danger for a physical phone line connection to be cut by a potential intruder. This cannot happen with a cellular connection. Upgrading to cellular is very important, even if you don't intend to take advantage of the robust Alarm.com service. These systems actually use the same cellular modules as the Simon XT Alarm System, and all three can access ADC in this way.
