Chicago O'Hare International Airport (IATA: ORD, ICAO: KORD, FAA LID: ORD), also known as O'Hare Airport, Chicago O'Hare, or simply O'Hare (/oʊˈhɛər/), is an international airport located on the far Northwest Side of Chicago, Illinois, 14 miles (23 km) northwest of the Loop business district. It is the primary commercial airport serving the Chicago metropolitan area, with Midway International Airport, located approximately 9 miles (14 km) southwest of the Loop, serving as a secondary airport. It is operated by the City of Chicago's Department of Aviation,[6] and covers 7,627 acres (3,087 ha).[4] O'Hare has direct flights to 217 destinations in North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Europe.[7][8]

O'Hare is the second-busiest airport in the world by number of takeoffs and landings and the fifth-busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic. In 2017, it was ranked the largest U.S. and fourth-largest international Mega Hub.[9][10] O'Hare serves a major hub for United and American; it is United's largest hub in both passengers and flights,[11] while it is American's third-largest hub.[12] It is also a focus city for Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines.

O'Hare has been voted Best Airport in North America for 14 consecutive years by Global Traveler.[13]
