In this video, Jorge talks about the motion detecting sensors that work with the Interlogix Simon XTi and Simon XTi-5 Alarm Systems. These systems accept wireless motion detectors that operate at a frequency of 319.5 MHz. This includes wireless motion detecting sensors from Interlogix/GE and Qolsys.

A motion detecting sensor is a device that is used to detect when motion is present inside a building. Most motion sensors work using passive infrared (PIR) technology. This means that they look for changes in infrared energy that are caused by movement. A user should be very careful when they decide where to place a motion sensor so that no false alarms occur.

In most cases, a user will want to use wireless motion detecting sensors with their Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 System. This is because they are easy to install, and they can readily interface with these systems. However, the motion sensors will need to speak at a radio frequency that is compatible with these systems.

In the case of the Simon XTi and Simon XTi-5, the systems both include their own built-in wireless receiver that accepts sensors at the 319.5 MHz frequency. If a wireless motion sensor does not speak at this frequency, then it will not be able to be used with these systems unless a wireless signal converter is used.

Any wireless motion detecting sensor will need to be programmed with the Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 System before it can be used. This is done through zone programming. The user will need to provide the Installer Code for their system in order to access this menu. By providing their Installer Code, they can enter zone programming and enroll new sensors. Please keep in mind that there is a limit to the number of wireless zones that can be used with a security system. For these systems, up to 40 different wireless zones can be added.
