Improve Clay Soil with Sand?

You can improve clay and heavy soils using a number of different methods, and in this video I'll discuss the idea of incorporating sand to change soil texture. Before you hire the delivery truck and rent the rototiller, I'd encourage you to look at all the options. Grinding your soil up to add sand may result in a long-term improvement, but is very disruptive to soil structure and life.

I mentioned an article by Linda Chalker-Scott about sand as an amendment. Here's the link: https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/403/2015/03/soil-amendments-2.pdf
