Vermiculture: Harvesting Worm Compost
We are separating our worms from their castings in order to harvest their compost. Using worm compost in your garden can add nutrients and beneficial microbes to the soil. Separating the worms is not difficult but it can be a time consuming process. We are looking at other methods to streamline and process the compost faster in the future. The other benefits of using worm compost is you can make "worm tea" which is a natural liquid fertilizer which can be unique to the individual harvesting the tea. There are a lot of different methods you can experiment with to change the composition of the worm compost and tea, such as certain food scraps you feed the worms and the ingredients you add to the worm tea (i.e. using aquaponics, adding powdered vitamin C, etc) to super enhance it.
