The Statue of Unity was completed on October 30th, 2018, this date is important as it is the 143rd birth anniversary of Independence activist Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. If you haven’t heard of him, Sardar Patel or the face of this statue was the first deputy prime minister and home minister of independent India and the chief adherent of Mahatma Gandhi during the non-violent Indian Independence movement. Patel was loved and respected for his leadership and unification of India.
