In this video, Joe talks about adding a Liftmaster Garage Door Opener to a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 System. The older Liftmaster Garage Door Openers that use Z-Wave technology are the easiest to interface directly with the system. The newer Liftmaster MyQ models will need to be interfaced though Alarm.com.

The advantage to using an older Liftmaster Garage Door Opener is that the user will be able to control their garage door directly from the IQ Panel 2 itself. Newer MyQ models will require the user to control the garage door exclusively through Alarm.com. The Linear GD00Z Garage Door Opener will wire-in directly with the user's garage door motor so that it can open and close the door. The device also includes a tilt sensor that lets the IQ Panel 2 System know whether or not the garage door is currently open. The user will then be able the check the IQ Panel 2 or Alarm.com to see the current status of their garage door. And by using Alarm.com, a user can remotely operate their garage door using the corresponding mobile app on iOS and Android devices.

One step when adding a Liftmaster Garage Door Open is to pair the device's tilt sensor with the GD00Z. In most cases, the devices will come pre-paired from the factory. But if they aren't, then the user will need to first pair the two devices. This may be required if a factory reset has been performed on a GD00Z. Fortunately, pairing the GD00Z with the associated tilt sensor is very easy. Then the GD00Z will need to be added to the Z-Wave network for the IQ Panel 2 System. Remember, it is important to clear the device from the Z-Wave network before attempting to add it to the network. This will clear the device settings and help ensure that it can be enrolled successfully.

Note: This video demonstrates how to integrate a Linear GD000Z Z-Wave Garage Door Controller with an older garage door that does NOT support the more current MyQ garage door features. What Joe demonstrates with the multimeter is the dry contact closure provided by the GD000Z to the older garage door motor, which would cause the door to go up or down.
