Turning off Confirmation of Arming on the Honeywell Lyric
In this video, Jarrett shows users how to turn off the Arm Confirm feature on a Honeywell Lyric Controller. Arm Confirm is a feature that instructs the panel to produce a quick loud tone when Arming Away using a keyfob or keypad. The option for turning it off is found within the panel Sounders Menu.
There are a few things to keep in mind when a user sets their system to Arm Away. By Arming Away, the Interior Zones for the system will be active. This is different from Arm Stay, which automatically bypasses Interior Zones. The reason Arm Stay bypasses Interior Zones is because these are typically sensors found inside the building. The idea behind Arm Stay is that any remaining building occupants should be able to move throughout the building freely. As such, the system bypasses the Interior Zones to prevent the end user from accidentally setting them off.
But the idea behind Arm Away is that there is nobody staying inside the building. Instead, everyone is supposed to be away from the building. If an Interior Follower Zone is activated during this time, then an immediate alarm will occur. This action is logical, as it signifies to the system that someone broke into the building thru illegitimate means. Remember, there should be nobody inside the building after Arming Away. If somebody does remain inside the building, then it is likely that the occupant will set off an alarm.
With the strong implications of Arming Away, the system will want some way of making sure the user knows that they have Armed Away. This is especially true when using a keypad or keyfob to arm the system, as they may have done so by accident. The Arm Confirm tone is one way to let the user know that they have Armed Away. But if the user finds this tone to be annoying or unnecessary, then they have the option of turning it off.
In addition to Arm Confirm, there are other features designed to prevent false alarms caused by accidentally Arming Away. One of which is Auto Stay Arming. This feature will have the system automatically revert to Arm Stay mode if no Entry/Exit Zone is faulted during the Exit Delay period after Arming Away. The idea here is that the user will need to activate at least one Entry/Exit Zone to successfully leave the building after they have Armed Away. If no Entry/Exit Zone is faulted, then the system assumes that the user is still inside the building. As a result, the system will switch to Arm Stay mode to prevent any false alarms. This feature can also be disabled if desired.
