Low Battery Supervision on the 2GIG Take-345

In this video, Jorge explains why all the zones used with a 2GIG TAKE-345 module might suddenly show a low-battery trouble condition. The most likely cause for this is that the TAKE-345 module actually has a low battery. All affected zones will show a low-battery trouble condition when this happens.

The 2GIG TAKE-345 is a wired to wireless converter for 2GIG Security Systems. Hardwired sensors connect with the 2GIG TAKE-345. The TAKE-345 then sends out a 345 MHz signal that is compatible with 2GIG Alarm Systems. This includes the 2GIG GC2, the 2GIG GC3 and the upcoming GC2e and GC3e Systems. This allows these hardwired sensors sensors to communicate with the 2GIG System wirelessly. This is a great device if you plan on upgrading from a hardwired system to a wireless 2GIG Panel.

The 2GIG TAKE-345 supports up to eight (8) hardwired zones. Each wired sensor will need to be assigned to a wireless zone on the panel. It can be used with virtually any security sensor, such as door and window contacts, motion detection sensors, glass break sensors and shock sensors. It can also be used with most environmental sensors like temperature sensors and flood sensors. However, it cannot be used with life-safety sensors like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide sensors.

If you experience a low-battery trouble for your 2GIG TAKE-345 zones, then you might need to replace the battery. You should try giving the module 24 hours of running on AC power and then see if you can clear the low-battery conditions at that time. Most backup batteries have a product life of four to seven years. After that, you will need to replace the backup battery with a new one. The good thing about the 2GIG TAKE-345 is that you will only need to replace the backup battery for the module, rather than all your sensors.
