In this video, Jarrett from Alarm Grid talks about the battery that is compatible with the 2GIG GC3. The battery used with this panel is called the 2GIG BATTERY-GC3. This battery will keep the system powered on in case the electricity ever goes out. At some point, the panel battery must be replaced.

Keeping an alarm system powered on at all times is very important. If your system powers down, then your monitoring service will not be in affect. If an intruder breaks into your home or business while the system is powered down, no alarm will occur. The Crash & Smart technology of alarm will also not be in effect. In other words, you home or business will be extremely vulnerable.

The same is also true for life-safety sensors that are used with your system. Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide sensors that are activated may still try to report to the system, and their internal sounders may still activate to alert building occupants. But since the system is powered down, it will be unable to receive the signals. As a result, you will not be able to receive Alarm.com notifications regarding an activated life-safety sensor. You will also not be able to receive automatic dispatch for a fire or out break of CO gas.

With all that in mind, you should make sure that your system is always powered on. The best way to do this is to maintain a reliable backup battery. When the system is running on plug-in power, the battery will be slowly storing a charge. If the power goes out, the system will automatically switch over to its backup battery to maintain power. The 2GIG BATTERY-GC3 can keep the system running for up to 24 hours. After three (3) to five (5) years,
