In this video, Jarrett from Alarm Grid explains which wireless motion sensors will work with the Honeywell LYNX Touch L7000 System. The L7000 uses 345 MHz sensors from the Honeywell 5800 Series. This offers you a few different motion sensors to choose from, including the 5800PIR-RES and 5800PIR-COM.

Motion sensors are very commonly used with all types of security systems. These devices let your system know if there is movement in a room or area. These devices typically work by looking for changes in infrared (IR) energy. When a person, animal, or object comes within the sensor's field of view, the sensor will detect the change in IR energy from the movement and respond by alerting the system. These are commonly referred to as passive infrared (PIR) motion sensors.

Some motion sensors, such as the Honeywell 5800PIR-RES, offer pet immunity. This works by having the motion sensor not look in the areas close to the ground where a pet or other small animal would normally be walking and moving around. Instead, the motion sensor will only detect a human intruder walking upright. There are a few things to keep in mind if you intend to use a motion sensor for pet immunity. The first is that the pet immune motion sensor will typically have a listed weight limit. You will want to make sure that all your pets are under this weight limit. Otherwise, they will likely set off the sensor.

You should also understand that pets under the listed weight limit can still activate the pet immune motion sensor. If your pet gets in the sensor's field of view, then the sensor will detect their infrared energy and activate. The key is to position your pet immune motion sensors in such a way that your pets cannot get within the sensor's field of view. This means that the motion sensor should not be facing any stairwells or furniture that your pet could climb upon to get within the sensor's field of view.
