Response Types for a Honeywell Lyric Alarm System

In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid provides an overview of Response Types that are used with a Honeywell Lyric Security System. When a sensor is enrolled to a panel zone, it is assigned a Response Type. The Response Type determines how the system responds when the sensor is faulted or activated.

Making sure that you assign the proper Response Type for each system zone is extremely important. If you set up a zone with an improper Response Type, then the system will not respond the way that you want it to when that zone is faulted. Different Response Type options are available based on the selected Device Type for the zone. In most cases, there will be an appropriate Response Type for the Device Type that you list in the zone programming.

However, there may be some cases where you want to use a very specific Response Type that is not available based on the Device Type that you selected. In these situations, there is an easy fix. You can set the Device Type to "Other", and then all the Response Types will be made available. This is a good work around if you find that the Response Type you want to use is not available for the Device Type that you set for the zone.

There are many Response Types that can be used with Lyric System zones, so it's a good idea to make yourself familiar with them, especially the ones that are more commonly used. Remember, setting an incorrect Response Type can result in your system not responding properly when a sensor is faulted. Take the time to read up on the different Response Types, and make sure that the ones you select provide an appropriate response based on the zone that was faulted. Different zone types will warrant different system responses. For example, an opened door will require a very different Response Type than an activated smoke detector!
