Permanently Extending the Exit Delay Time On IQ2

In this video, Michael from Alarm Grid shows you how to permanently extend the Exit Delay countdown timer on the Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. An Exit Delay is a false alarm prevention tool that helps ensure that everyone inside a building has vacated the premises after the system has been Armed Away. If anyone is remaining inside the building when it has been Armed Away, then it is likely that they may activate an interior zone and cause an alarm on the system. With an appropriate Exit Delay time period, you can prevent this from happening.

In order to permanently adjust the Exit Delay for a Qolsys IQ Panel 2, you must access the Advanced Settings Menu using the system's Installer Code (default 1111) or Dealer Code (default 2222). You can adjust both the Normal Exit Delay period and the Long Exit Delay period. However, only one of these settings will actually be used. The Normal Exit Delay is used if you have at least one sensor programmed with the system, and no sensors are set to Sensor Group 12. The Long Exit Delay is used either if you have no sensors programmed with the system, or if you have at least one sensor set with Sensor Group 12.

When you adjust Exit Delay settings, you are permanently changing the default Exit Delay for the system. Every time you go to arm the system, you will get either the Normal Exit Delay or the Long Exit Delay that you set. If the time you set isn't ideal, then you must go back into the Security & Arming Menu and change the time again. No matter what Exit Delay time period you set, you always have the option of manually increasing the countdown timer by 60 seconds during a single arming session. This is done by pressing the green +60 button. Please note that you can only extend the countdown timer once per arming session. If you press the green +60 button again, then nothing will happen.
