Why are Peaceful Protesters Getting Arrested and/ or Sent to Hospital?

It's a sad day in Canada. Canadians have the right (or they used to) to peacefully protest. I shared my last two videos of the Freedom Convoy here in BC, Canada. Like many people around the globe, these events have been the first time that I have felt hope for our future.

Saturday Feb 12, 2022 thousands of people went to show their support. And it seems as if a bit more than 100 people stayed at the border to take a stand. They had one lane open to traffic. People were gathering together and eating, dancing and not causing any issues. It has been history in the making for people around the globe and a lot of Canadians wanted to show support.

On Tuesday evening, Feb 15, Carla and her dad went to bring tarps and food to the people camping out. They didn't know what else to do and wanted to let the protesters know they are not alone.

Suddenly, without warning, dozens of police officers walking shoulder to shoulder emerged from the fog and started arresting people. One officer told Carla to go, while at the same time holding her jacket and then pulling he hair. Carla left in an ambulance because she ended up on the bottom of a pile of people.

Her father got arrested. No one asked hime to leave, he told me several times that if a police officer had asked him to leave he would have. But without any warning, he was grabbed, thrown to the ground, handcuffed and taken to the police station.

This is not the Canada that I grew up in. Police are supposed to fight for our rights and freedoms. I also thought that they were supposed to read you your rights? Give you some options before just handcuffing someone and tossing them to the ground.
