Inspection of the Conditions of the Siesta Rooms Hotel in Vancouver, BC - Feb. 22, 2022

The management of this hotel does nothing but sit in the front office all day. The cleaner does nothing. The rumor is that money for cleaning supplies is being pocketed by the manager and the cleaner and they are letting the tenants suffer living in these conditions.

No proper repairs are ever made. A simple vacuuming of the halls once a week would help, but it only gets done about once every few months or less.

Garbage bags are piled up in the back stairwell which also serves as a fire exit, blocking the stairs. This is a fire safety hazard. It also draws mice into the building and rooms through a gap under the back fire exit door. This causes further filth and is just one of several health issues that aren't being properly dealt with.

The toilets are disgusting, with shit all over the seat and floor, and the cleaner just leaves it there for weeks, causing a serious health issue. I refuse to use them any more and have to go elsewhere to do my business.

There are holes in the bathroom floors, missing shower doors, broken or missing hooks or towel rails in the shower that never get fixed or replaced.

Stains and spills on the hallway floors and in the stairwells are left there instead of being cleaned up before they get tread deep into the carpet.

Many other little things are ignored, making the place worse.

This isn't how this hotel was run until the current manager took over. When I moved in, the cleaner at that time kept the place clean. Unlike all past managers, the current manager doesn't live here and never leaves the front office so he doesn't have to see the filthy conditions and doesn't seem to really care anyway. The current cleaner lives here but he's a lazy slob and the filth doesn't seem to bother him as much as complaining about it does, which causes him to get red in the face but he says nothing. Both of these people need to be replaced.

I have to do my own repairs and spend my own money for the tools and materials I need to do them. I also clean up some of the stains in the hallway because I know they won't be otherwise. I should send the owner an invoice to retrieve these expenses and for my time spent doing what the management is supposed to do.

The owner of the building is Blaine Culling, a member of Granville Entertainment Group in Vancouver, BC.
