Ontario to eliminate licence plate stickers, renewal fees

Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Tuesday that the province is eliminating license plate renewal fees and scrapping the requirement for a licence plate sticker.

Ford said drivers who have renewed their licence within the past two years would receive a refund.

To receive a refund, Ontarians will have to ensure the address on their licence is up to date and that any outstanding tickets or fines have been paid.

The government will send out cheques in the mail at the end of April, he said.
