Since the onset of the pandemic, students have been thrust into an online environment where they rely on technology to stay connected, learn and socialise. Unfortunately, many students are affected by the physical and psychological effects of increased screen time, such as pain, increased sedentary behaviour, sleep disturbances, difficulty concentrating and increased isolation. As we transition to a post-pandemic educational culture, digital wellness is emerging as an essential component for student well-being and success. Digital wellness strategies aim to help students (and ourselves!) mitigate the negative effects of technology by cultivating self-awareness through mindful engagement with technology, leading to improved productivity, concentration, focus, and overall mental and physical well-being. This workshop will explore the burgeoning field of digital wellness and offer evidence-based strategies for building and maintaining a healthy relationship with technology in our always-on(line), tech-dependent world.
