December 17, 2021. Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Station Mall.
A man who didn't have Proof of Vaccination and who is a resident was arrested by city cops. Although he had a mask, the Mall signs state that to eat in the food court a person needs to have P.O.V. papers or the digital app. The man refused to leave until he finished his meal and that prompted Mall staff to call the cops. When they arrived they immediately arrested him but he refused to walk on his own. That's when the cops chose to carry him out, however, they decided to carry him in a manner that would cause injury and bodily harm. According to Canadian Law, this man's rights were violated under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms number 12 which states: Everyone has the right not to be subjected to any cruel and unusual treatment or punishment.
He is currently in a pending lawsuit against Sault Police Services with a court date as of yet to be announced.
