Larry Strauss - Light Man

Considering that Larry Strauss' mother, Charlotte Rae, was arguably the quintessential TV educator, as Mrs Garrett on the hit series "The Facts Of Life," it should come as no surprise that he would follow a career in inner-city education and become an established author and journalist on the subject, becoming an award-winning 30 year veteran inner-city high school teacher who has worked with at-risk teenagers.

In his latest book, Strauss delivers wild humor with relentless humanity, inspired by the struggles he shared with his parents on behalf of their own real-life broken son-his brother-and from three decades of teaching Kafka to inner-city students of color.

In his fifth novel, Light Man, Larry Strauss has created a tragi-comic meditation on manhood, paying homage to the quasi-dystopian New York City of his childhood and to his late mother, whose comic flair was always fueled by personal heartbreak, none more profound than the mental illness and developmental disability of older son.
