The mayor of Ottawa says that any cars confiscated during the police crackdown on the occupation of the city center should be sold to cover the costs incurred by the administration.

"We have an opportunity to confiscate these cars and sell them," Mayor Jim Watson said.

"And I want them to be sold. I don't want them to return to these people who cause such frustration and irritation in our society."

Watson told CBC News that Ottawa has such powers thanks to the Emergency Law, which was activated by the federal government last week.
